Darren Thompson

Darren joined NatWest Bank on the graduate scheme and qualified as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. 

After working in relationship banking and then structured finance, Darren was given the opportunity to start an early stage technology focussed venture capital fund. He has been working with entrepreneurs and fast growth companies as an investor since 1997, achieving notable cross-border exits, Private Equity sales and listings with the likes of Eurologic, British Biocell, Processflows, Zenergi and Dream Doors. 

With a solid background in banking, venture capital and operational board experience, he has served on the Boards of a number of companies as a Non-Executive Director, including loveholidays.com a business that was funded from start-up by Meridian Growth Capital and went on to sell for £180m to Livingbridge Private Equity in their largest deal to date. 

Darren has worked extensively with companies with global ambitions at Board level and has run several venture capital funds, as well as serving on the British Venture Capital Association’s Hi-Tech Advisory Committee.
